Some produce like zucchini and cucumbers need extra protection from bruising and damage in transit, so they may arrive wrapped in plastic. Just 1.5 grams of plastic can extend a zucchini or cucumber's shelf life between 3 and 15 days!
On occasion our carrots may also come in plastic to retain moisture and to ensure your carrots are crisp and ready for chopping. While it may seem unintuitive, this can actually reduce food waste, resulting in lower carbon emissions from the diverted waste.
