What Is Chimichurri?
Chimichurri is a green herb sauce commonly found in Argentina. It's made with fresh herbs that give it a bright flavor that pairs excellent with grilled meats and veggies. While it’s typically made with olive oil, we’ve included an avocado oil option for that extra kick of antioxidants!
The Basics
Ingredients
Apart from your ingredients, you'll also need a blender or food processor (not mandatory — you can mix by hand!), a small bowl or container, and an appetite to enjoy this tasty sauce.
Yellow onion, diced - 1 tablespoon
Parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
Garlic, minced - ½ teaspoon
Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
Salt - ¼ teaspoon
Ground Black Pepper - ¼ teaspoon
Crushed red pepper flakes - ¼ teaspoon
Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
Olive oil (we also like avocado oil!) - 5 tablespoons
The Steps
How to Make Chimichurri
Mix: (If you're using a blender or food processor) Add all ingredients except for the oil in a blender or food processor, and mix until everything's finely minced. Make sure not to over-mix it, as this will turn it into a paste.
Combine: (Skip to this step if you're mixing everything by hand) Transfer the mixture into a separate container and pour the oil into it, gently mixing until combined.
Serve: Let the Chimichurri sit for at least 15 minutes for the flavors to fully combine (the longer, the better), and enjoy!
